EVS O2 Mobile Warehouse Management Client Featured in Supply Chain World Magazine

At EVS, we are our client's biggest fan.  Nothing makes us happier than to see them succeed, particularly in an area of their business in which we've had a hand.  In the Fall 2013 issue of Supply Chain World magazine, our client Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) is featured in an article called Brewed to Perfection.

CBA recently began direct distribution of their craft beers and uses of O2 Mobile Warehouse management software to accurately track their warehouse inventory.  EVS's inventory management software helps CBA stay on top of their entire warehouse operation.  Using hand-held scanners, warehouse personnel can track warehouse inventory, pallets, prepare items for picking, shipping and more.  Having warehouse distribution software tools, such as O2 Mobile, allows CBA to see real-time inventory views.  At the end of the day, this system makes the daily operations more efficient and accurate, and also allows the company to make critical shipping and planning decisions for the longer term.

Improving Your Warehouse Operations with Warehouse Management Barcode Software

As a warehouse distribution software developer, we work with a variety of small-to-medium sized businesses every day that are looking for ways to improve their warehouse operations.  Whether it is an organization recording a high number of inventory transactions per day, a manufacturer trying to coordinate inventory information over a number of different warehouse locations, or even a company working through growth and requiring automated processes to speed up operations when the manual (and often time consuming) task will no longer do, EVS has worked with them all.

While the problems may all be different for each manufacturer or distributor, the solution that makes the largest impact in the visibility and accuracy of their warehouse operations is barcode software, such as O2 Mobile Warehouse.

Warehouse management software has saved all of these companies significant amounts of time by automating multiple steps (i.e. navigate, lookup and validate inventory entries, print labels, etc.) with the scan of a single barcode.

O2 Mobile Warehouse inventory management software also saves these companies money.  Users will have the most accurate inventory information available, which will save you from costly year end physical inventory counts and improve production planning.  One O2 Mobile client even said,
"Previously, movements and adjustments were done using a manual clipboard, making it easy for people to forget to update it.  After implementing O2 Mobile, manual adjustments from lost or missing inventory went down 40% in the first month, and continue to decline."
Improving your warehouse operations can be done by solving many different company issues.  However, the core solution to these issues is a strong warehouse management system.  This will help you gain visibility, increase inventory accuracy and increase the speed and effectiveness of your receiving department, all of which will improve your warehouse operations, and bottom line.  There are a number of recent success stories and other information that can be found at www.evs-sw.com.

Don't Forget Business Data When Putting Together a Disaster Recovery Plan

I recently read an article outlining ways for manufacturing businesses can prepare for hurricane season. The article had some great tips and reminded readers that preparing ahead of disasters is key.  However, I didn't see anything mentioned regarding ways manufacturers could (and should) prepare their business data for possible disaster.

While building, inventory or equipment loss can be detrimental to a manufacturer of any size, it is important to remember that there are other areas that should not be overlooked.  Business data is something that is one-of-a-kind.  Your data is completely unique to your business, and most companies will find they not only have a larger amount of downtime, but may not be able to fully recover when suffering the loss of data.  Just image how you would operate if you lost customer information, production information, supply chain information, sales order information, etc.  The list could go on and on.  This area of your business isn't replaceable like a piece of equipment, unfortunately.

Disaster recovery plans should also include a plan for your data, more specifically your ERP software data.  Sage 500 ERP Cloud Disaster Recovery Solution is the best way for your business to protect your data.     Now, this disaster recovery software solution shouldn't be confused with a general tape back up.  The Sage 500 Disaster Recovery solution provides "real-time" mirroring of your Sage 500 ERP production environment and data, preserving everything you need to get back up and running after a disaster.

The bottom line is don't wait until it's too late to prepare your manufacturing business for possible disasters.  Whether it's hurricane season, fires, floods or the real threat of human error, disasters are always waiting for the unprepared.  For more information on the Cloud Disaster Recovery Solution for your Sage 500 ERP software, visit www.evs-sw.com.
