Warehouse Management Software for Sage 500 ERP

For those manufacturers and/or distributors using Sage 500 ERP software to manage your business, you are no doubt also using the warehouse management module.  While this has some great tools, did you know you are missing an important tool to help you gain real visibility and inventory accuracy?  If you haven't added O2 Mobile Warehouse for Sage 500 to your operations, there is a lot of room for improvement in both time and cost savings ahead for your business.  Some of the great additions this barcode software system offers include:

  • True pallet tracking
  • Pick-while-you-pack/ship
  • Pre-shipment staging
  • Purchase order receiving
  • Warehouse/Bin movements
  • Sales order shipping/picking
  • Advanced cycle counts
  • Physical Counts

Using the system is also incredibly simple.  This inventory management software system uses Smart-barcodes to fully automate your warehouse operations.  With O2 Mobile, you'll be able to navigate, lookup, and validate entries with the quick scan of a single barcode.

You may not just take my word for it, so I encourage you to visit the EVS website for more information and read one of the many success stories from the companies that have made significant improvements to their business by implementing this warehouse distribution software.  Here are just a couple examples of the things EVS clients are saying about O2 Mobile Warehouse:
"Previously, movements and adjustments were done using a manual clipboard, making it easy for people to forget to update it.  After implementing O2 Mobile, manual adjustments from lost or missing inventory went down 40% in the first month, and continues to decline."
"Shipping is saving approximately 7.5 to 10 man hours a day in picking sales orders alone.  The saving is mostly due to inventory accuracy improvements, the ability to look up the location of goods from anywhere in the facility, and not having to manually read and document items, bins, lots and serial numbers."

Food Manufacturing Safety Regulations Taking Shape in 2013

For many in the food manufacturing industry, the new regulations as part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (F.S.M.A) has been a long time coming.  Now in 2013, the F.D.A. proposed two regulations, the first will mandate food manufacturers to develop and implement hazard analysis and critical control point plans (HACCP).  With the addition of this new regulation, food manufacturers will need to take the responsibility of identifying and controlling potential risks for contamination.

The second regulation will create and enforce food safety standards in the production and harvesting of produce.  This regulation will include standards for water and soil quality, worker hygiene and animal intrusion of fields.

Each of these two new proposals have differing timelines for compliance based on the size of the company.  The F.D.A also announced that the agency would be issuing additional proposed F.S.M.A regulations within the next few months.

With more regulations requiring HACCP compliance, it's important for food manufacturers to have a reliable and efficient way of documenting compliance.  O2 Food ERP software for Sage 500 ERP has the tools to help manufacturers track and trace lots.  The food and beverage ERP software and can also mange HACCP concerns and lot recalls with ease.

F.D.A. Considers Monumental New Food Safety Rules

As announced recently, the F.D.A. has proposed major changes to the food safety regulations, requiring farmers and food manufacturers to take on a more aggressive approach to preventing deadly outbreaks.

With a number of outbreaks just last year alone that led to a high number of illnesses and even deaths, the F.D.A. is seeking to require those involved in the food supply chain to take additional precautions during production. The goal with these new regulations will be to do more to "prevent" food-borne illnesses, rather than the reactive approach such as recalls when a problem is discovered.  Under the newly suggested regulations, food manufacturers would have to submit food safety plans to the appropriate governing organizations to demonstrate they are in compliance in keeping their production areas clean, as well as a plan of action to correct problems should they arise.

In light of these changes, food manufacturers will have to keep extremely detailed records throughout from all areas of their supply chain as this will not doubt be a part of their prevention plan as well as their action plan in case of a contamination.  O2 Food ERP software by EVS, has the tools that food manufacturers need to manage these types of food safety documentation issues.  This food software ERP system will manage HACCP, lot recalls,  and quality and regulatory requirements in a single location.

We'll be watching for new F.D.A announcements and developments as I'm sure all of those involved in the food processing industry will.  For more information on the food manufacturing ERP software developed specifically to manage all of the unique concerns of the food production industry, visit www.evs-sw.com.

F.D.A. Seeks Input from Food and Beverage Industry on New Regulations

As process manufacturing ERP software developers, EVS employees are always interested in the various changes to regulations that impact our clients.  Specifically, we work with a number of food manufacturers who have found tremendous success with out O2 Food ERP software system.  So, when an announcement comes along such as this one from the FDA, we are not only listening, but we want to hear from our clients and others in the industry what their thoughts are on the subject.

The FDA is requesting comments and input from food manufacturers and anyone else involved in the food processing industry in connection with its intent to set new regulations for major food allergens.  Food allergens pertaining to this discussion will include: eggs, milk, tree nuts, fish, Crustacean shellfish, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and food ingredients that contain protein derived from such food.  New regulations would be directed in the labeling of such allergens and declaration of the presence of these major food allergens by their common name.

So, if you're involved in the food and beverage processing industry, what are your thoughts on the labeling thresholds?  For more information and a full listing of the areas in which the FDA seeks comment, visit www.regulations.gov.
