F.D.A. Seeks Input from Food and Beverage Industry on New Regulations

As process manufacturing ERP software developers, EVS employees are always interested in the various changes to regulations that impact our clients.  Specifically, we work with a number of food manufacturers who have found tremendous success with out O2 Food ERP software system.  So, when an announcement comes along such as this one from the FDA, we are not only listening, but we want to hear from our clients and others in the industry what their thoughts are on the subject.

The FDA is requesting comments and input from food manufacturers and anyone else involved in the food processing industry in connection with its intent to set new regulations for major food allergens.  Food allergens pertaining to this discussion will include: eggs, milk, tree nuts, fish, Crustacean shellfish, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and food ingredients that contain protein derived from such food.  New regulations would be directed in the labeling of such allergens and declaration of the presence of these major food allergens by their common name.

So, if you're involved in the food and beverage processing industry, what are your thoughts on the labeling thresholds?  For more information and a full listing of the areas in which the FDA seeks comment, visit www.regulations.gov.
