Meet with EVS Executives at Sage Summit 2013

In just under a month, the annual Sage Summit Conference and Trade Show will be underway at the Gaylord National Convention Center in Washington, D.C.  While EVS won't have a booth this year, we will be at the conference for the entire week and encourage all of our clients and prospects to meet with us anytime during the week.

We'd love to hear if you or someone from your organization will be attending Sage Summit 2013 and have created a short 4-question survey to see who will be joining us.  You will also have the opportunity to request a time to meet with any or all of the EVS Executives.

We look forward to see everyone in July!  Stay tuned for information regarding the Sage 500 ERP session that our very own president, Evan Garber, is presenting.

Hot Summer Nights and Tornado & Hurricane Threats - Is Your Data Protected?

We've finally reached the time of year that people of all ages look forward to, summer.  But, with those beautiful summer days and nights comes the threat of severe weather such as tornados and hurricanes.  It's the time of year when natural disasters come into play and often has individuals and businesses alike asking, "are we prepared?"

While these events can't be prevented, there are things that can be done to help you prepare.  Anyone who has lived through any type of disaster will tell you that material items are all replaceable, and they are correct.  As a manufacturer, you also have to consider how the loss of your data will impact your business.

Many will say they use tape backups.  Good, at least you are doing something.  However, where are those backups located?  Are they on the premises where the disaster occurred?  How far back is the data being saved?  At EVS, we strive to offer solutions that will be there for you no matter the situation by providing Sage 500 Cloud Disaster Recovery.

This ERP disaster recovery solution gives you real-time mirroring of your Sage 500 ERP production environment and data.  That means you don't have to search back through tapes hoping all of your data is there.  The Sage Cloud Disaster Recovery solution mirrors your own system within 2 minutes at any time of the day.  Another important feature is that the data is stored in a dedicated and disaster resistant offsite facility, including a diesel generated power backup with a 90 day fuel supply.

While no one knows the exact statistics, it's been said by the American Red Cross that as many as 40% of small businesses do not reopen after a major disaster.  You have the business insurance to cover the physical equipment needs, but you also need the best plan to cover your data needs as your business continuity will depend on it.

Small-to-medium sized manufacturing business are continuously working to serve a market niche or gain their share of a current target market.  As those companies who have "been there and done" that can attest, growth is an exciting time, however, it can also create stress and uncover processes that may need updating to meet the new demand.

Some of the processes that may need updating include all of the manual tasks that are often found in this sized manufacturing business.  For example, many use Excel spreadsheets to analyze and track their data or manually enter shipping and receiving information.  While this may work as smaller businesses, the new growth can create production bottlenecks and times of inventory miscalculations.

If you are a growing manufacturing organization, now may be the time to start looking at enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.  There are also systems such as process manufacturing ERP software, designed to serve the unique needs of process manufacturing.  These ERP software systems will provide you with tools to manage your entire operation all within a single system, giving you the ultimate amount of visibility and intelligence into your organization.

Looking for a Cloud Solution for Your Sage 500 ERP Software? Look No More

Businesses come in all different sizes and they each have unique ways of operating.  That is why one ERP software solution does not always fit everyone's needs.  While some prefer to have all of their IT and ERP hosted in-house, others need to have their software hosted and just use the ERP software as a service.

There are a number of benefits of selecting a cloud-based ERP software solution or even a cloud-based inventory management software system, especially for the small-to-medium sized businesses.  Just a few of the cost saving benefits include:

  • No large hardware purchases to host the data
  • No extensive IT staff required to manage and maintain the software or hardware
  • No large upfront investment
Using the Sage 500 ERP cloud hosting solution, you will still get all of the functionality and benefits of the ERP software system without the cost and maintenance involved in hosting your own system.  Having the opportunity to access information from anywhere, not only while on the organizations premises can be a great advantage.

F.S.M.A. To Move Ahead After Federal Ruling

It appears that the F.S.M.A. is finally going to move forward with new regulations after a federal judge orders the F.D.A. to implement the act that was established back in 2011.  As deadlines have come and gone, the F.D.A. appears to still be in discussions on how to proceed, asking for more time to develop the appropriate regulations.

The food manufacturing industry as a whole has been waiting for the new regulation for a while as their processes may be affected by any new rulings.  Documentation and lot tracking are areas of food safety that each company can successfully address through a central food manufacturing ERP software system, such as O2 Food ERP software.

Food manufacturing software provides the tools to not only document all of the internal processes, but also the supply chain.  O2 Process Manufacturing software offers complete lot tracking and a simple, one-click recall process if the need arises.  With the latest string of outbreaks from food-borne illnesses, having everything documented in a central ERP software system will ease the burden during a recall situation.  Using a food and beverage ERP software will not only fill this need, but it also offers multiple tools that were designed specifically for your industry and will give you a business advantage.

While the F.S.M.A. regulations will be announced in only a matter of time, you can start getting your internal processes in order with food processing ERP software.  For more information on this food processing software and related services, visit www.evs-sw.com.
