It seems that almost daily, a new food safety measure is being discussed. It appears that the U.S.D.A. will be making a regulation change in the meat processing industry. According to the article from Food Manufacturing, the U.S.D.A. is "expanding E. coli testing in some raw meat, a move expected to prevent more people from contracting the bacteria that can cause sever illness or death. Starting Monday, the meat industry will have to test beef trimmings for six new strains of E. coli that have been linked to a growing number of illnesses."
As often the case, food safety advocates push for these types of regulations only to have the industry itself fight the regulation due to cost and unproven benefits. Which side of the coin are you on? Will additional testing and regulations help prevent food borne illness? Or, will it only unnecessarily add to the cost of manufacturing products without actually aiding in pathogen prevention?
While food manufacturing ERP software can't solve the world's food safety issues, it can help food and beverage manufacturers with lot tracking, lot recalls and HACCP compliance. With regulations mounting and traceability becoming more important in the food industry, food and beverage manufacturing software will help you with compliance reporting and traceability.
More specifically, O2 Food ERP software by EVS has these necessary tools that will help food and beverage processors with compliance reporting, recalls and lot tracking. This food and beverage software was developed with the food industry in mind, so the features fall in line with the way food manufacturers actually operate.
