The FDA recently issued a proposed rule implementing the hazard analysis and risk-based preventative control (HARPC) provisions of the Food Modernization Act (FSMA). In the past, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) have been the gold standard for safety regulations. As the food manufacturing industry moves to HARPC, they will add new preventative measures to the previous cGMPs with the goal of identifying specific threats and taking action to remove the risk before it can cause harm.
No matter what type of controls are implemented, it is clear that food manufacturers will need to take steps to document their food safety plans as well as document many of the variables affecting their product, such as raw materials, supply chain sources, etc. With multiple areas requiring documentation, it will become even more critical for food processors to implement a central system, such as food manufacturing ERP software, to help manage all of the information.
O2 Food ERP software has tools available to help you do just that. This food manufacturing software system will manage your food safety controls and will assist with any lot recalls should it arise. Having a food-specific process manufacturing software system will provide your business with the best tools and operate in a way that your business does.
